Registered bed nights increased 114 percent
In December 2021, 2,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Pietarsaari Region (+113.9 %), of which 2,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 440 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 118 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 96 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 114 percent from last year's December.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Poland (42 nights).
1,400 nights (+205.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 1,100 nights (+52.9 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 39,100 registered bed nights (+20.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 7,800 (+13.5 %) for foreigners in Pietarsaari Region, in total 47,000 (+19.5 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay was 1.9 nights in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased three percent compared to earlier year. In Pietarsaari Region, length of stay in December was on average 1.9 nights and in Finland 2.2 nights (-5.9 %).
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pietarsaari Region on average 1.8 nights (-4.0 %) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+7.4 %).
1,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 121 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 83.5 percent were domestic, and 16.5 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pietarsaari Region on average 1.8 nights (+0.0) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.43).

The airport received a total of 410 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 640 percent.
