Registered bed nights increased 10 percent

In December 2019, 12,800 bed nights were recorded in Piteå (+10.3 %), of which 9,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,400 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased four percent and foreign bed nights increased 81 percent. In total, bed nights increased 10 percent from last year's December.

2,900 rooms (+32.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 4,300 rooms (+50.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 310,000 bed nights (+0.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 153,000 (+17.7 %) for foreigners in Piteå, in total 463,000 (+5.2 %) nights.

Total of 3.5 million bed nights (+0.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (+1.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 764,000 nights (-2.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Piteå out of total bed nights was 0.4 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.3 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

5,900 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased one percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 85.2 percent were domestic, and 14.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Piteå on average 1.8 nights (+0.0) and foreigners 3.9 nights (+1.5).
