Registered bed nights increased 29 percent

In April 2021, 8,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Piteå (+28.6 %), of which 7,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 42 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 16 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 29 percent from last year's April.

2,200 rooms (+30.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 2,400 rooms (+12.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 23,600 registered bed nights (-23.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 8,000 (-24.9 %) for foreigners in Piteå, in total 31,500 (-23.9 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.3 percent

Total of 2.6 million registered bed nights (+102.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.3 million nights (+103.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 218,000 nights (+90.8 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Piteå out of total registered bed nights was 0.3 % (-0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.3 % and foreign bed nights 0.6 %.

3,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 36 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 77.8 percent were domestic, and 22.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Piteå on average 3.2 nights (+0.59) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-6.3).
