Registered bed nights increased 30 percent

In September 2021, 22,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Piteå (+29.9 %), of which 16,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 54 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 12 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 30 percent from last year's September.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Denmark (1,300 nights).

8,100 rooms (+27.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 6,100 rooms (-2.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 268,000 registered bed nights (+22.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 56,100 (+9.2 %) for foreigners in Piteå, in total 324,000 (+19.7 %) registered nights.

Total of 4.1 million registered bed nights (+30.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.4 million nights (+24.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 723,000 nights (+65.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Piteå out of total registered bed nights was 0.5 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.5 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.

7,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 36 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 83.3 percent were domestic, and 16.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Piteå on average 2.6 nights (+0.02) and foreigners 4.3 nights (-0.01).
