45,500 registered bed nights

In June 2020, 45,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Piteå (-37.0 %), of which 39,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 10 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 80 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 37 percent from last year's June.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (2,100 nights).

3,600 rooms (-43.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 4,700 rooms (-7.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and June, 86,600 registered bed nights (-26.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 19,600 (-52.6 %) for foreigners in Piteå, in total 106,000 (-33.4 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.7 million registered bed nights (-48.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.4 million nights (-32.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 257,000 nights (-87.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Piteå out of total registered bed nights was 1.2 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.2 % and foreign bed nights 2.2 %.

15,800 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 46 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 90.4 percent were domestic, and 9.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Piteå on average 2.8 nights (+0.15) and foreigners 3.7 nights (+1.5).
