Registered bed nights increased 29 percent

In May 2022, 33,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Piteå (+29.4 %), of which 26,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 7,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 23 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 61 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 29 percent from last year's May.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Denmark (2,100 nights).

11,400 rooms (+92.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 5,300 rooms (+19.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 73,600 registered bed nights (+63.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 26,000 (+105.6 %) for foreigners in Piteå, in total 99,600 (+72.5 %) registered nights.

Total of 5.4 million registered bed nights (+64.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 4.4 million nights (+46.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 993,000 nights (+241.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Piteå out of total registered bed nights was 0.6 % (-0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.6 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.

12,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 46 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 86.0 percent were domestic, and 14.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Piteå on average 2.5 nights (-0.55) and foreigners 4.4 nights (+0.95).
