8,900 registered bed nights

In March 2020, 8,900 bed nights were recorded in Piteå (-45.4 %), of which 6,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,000 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 45 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 48 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 45 percent from last year's March.

2,500 rooms (-52.3 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 2,400 rooms (-37.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 25,500 bed nights (-16.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 9,100 (+38.9 %) for foreigners in Piteå, in total 34,600 (-7.0 %) nights.

Total of 2.8 million bed nights (-37.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.4 million nights (-33.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 405,000 nights (-54.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Piteå out of total bed nights was 0.3 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.3 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

3,700 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 48 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 85.0 percent were domestic, and 15.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Piteå on average 2.2 nights (+0.07) and foreigners 3.6 nights (+0.55).
