Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 28 percent

In March 2019, 16,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Piteå (+28.0 %), of which 12,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 23 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 46 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 28 percent from last year's March.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Finland (1,000 nights).

5,100 rooms (+79.8 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 3,800 rooms (+26.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 30,700 registered bed nights (+2.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 6,500 (+9.9 %) for foreigners in Piteå, in total 37,200 (+3.4 %) registered nights.

Total of 4.5 million registered bed nights (-3.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.6 million nights (-1.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 888,000 nights (-12.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Piteå out of total registered bed nights was 0.4 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.3 % and foreign bed nights 0.4 %.

Length of stay was 2.3 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased eight percent compared to earlier year. In Piteå, length of stay in March was on average 2.3 nights and in Sweden 2.2 nights (-4.6 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Piteå on average 2.1 nights (-18.5 %) and foreigners 3.1 nights (+3.2 %).

7,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 39 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 82.5 percent were domestic, and 17.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Piteå on average 2.1 nights (-0.23) and foreigners 3.1 nights (-0.09).
