Paid bed nights

72,300 registered bed nights

In June 2019, 72,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Piteå (-3.0 %), of which 44,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 28,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 10 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 11 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased three percent from last year's June.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (18,600 nights).

6,300 rooms (+14.8 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 5,000 rooms (+24.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and June, 118,000 registered bed nights (+4.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 41,300 (+11.5 %) for foreigners in Piteå, in total 159,000 (+6.3 %) registered nights.

Total of 7.1 million registered bed nights (+7.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.0 million nights (+8.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.1 million nights (+5.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Piteå out of total registered bed nights was 1.0 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.9 % and foreign bed nights 1.4 %.

Length of stay increased four percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased four percent compared to earlier year. In Piteå, length of stay in June was on average 2.5 nights and in Sweden 2.1 nights (+4.2 %).

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Piteå on average 2.6 nights (-1.5 %) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-1.4 %).

29,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased seven percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 56.8 percent were domestic, and 43.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Piteå on average 2.6 nights (+0.22) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-0.03).
