Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased one percent

In August 2019, 74,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Piteå (+0.8 %), of which 54,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 20,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 10 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 47 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased one percent from last year's August.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (13,300 nights).

4,100 rooms (-35.3 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 9,500 rooms (+78.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 261,000 registered bed nights (+1.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 140,000 (+18.0 %) for foreigners in Piteå, in total 401,000 (+6.8 %) registered nights.

Total of 8.9 million registered bed nights (+3.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 6.1 million nights (+4.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.8 million nights (+3.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Piteå out of total registered bed nights was 0.8 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.7 %.

Length of stay was 2.6 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased one percent compared to earlier year. In Piteå, length of stay in August was on average 2.6 nights and in Sweden 2.2 nights (+0.4 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Piteå on average 2.7 nights (+1.3 %) and foreigners 2.3 nights (+1.2 %).

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased two percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 69.1 percent were domestic, and 30.9 percent were from foreign countries.
