Registered bed nights increased 27 percent

In January 2020, 12,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Piteå (+27.5 %), of which 8,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased three percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 200 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 27 percent from last year's January.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (2,700 nights).

3,100 rooms (+16.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 3,200 rooms (-7.2 %) by business visitors.

Total of 3.9 million registered bed nights (+2.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.1 million nights (+2.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 797,000 nights (-0.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Piteå out of total registered bed nights was 0.3 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.3 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

Length of stay increased 46 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 46 percent compared to earlier year. In Piteå, length of stay in January was on average 2.8 nights and in Sweden 2.3 nights (-2.0 %).

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Piteå on average 2.3 nights and foreigners 5.0 nights .
