17,200 registered bed nights

In September 2020, 17,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Piteå (-16.2 %), of which 10,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 32 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 38 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 16 percent from last year's September.

6,400 rooms (+73.2 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 6,300 rooms (+25.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 219,000 registered bed nights (-20.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 51,400 (-64.4 %) for foreigners in Piteå, in total 271,000 (-35.7 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.1 million registered bed nights (-30.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (-20.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 436,000 nights (-62.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Piteå out of total registered bed nights was 0.6 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.4 % and foreign bed nights 1.4 %.

5,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 32 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 74.3 percent were domestic, and 25.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Piteå on average 2.6 nights (+0.21) and foreigners 4.3 nights (+1.5).
