8,800 registered bed nights

In March 2021, 8,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Piteå (-1.3 %), of which 6,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased seven percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 18 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased one percent from last year's March.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (560 nights).

2,700 rooms (+15.8 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 2,600 rooms (+60.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 16,100 registered bed nights (-37.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 6,700 (-26.5 %) for foreigners in Piteå, in total 22,800 (-34.3 %) registered nights.

Total of 2.9 million registered bed nights (+2.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (+11.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 218,000 nights (-46.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Piteå out of total registered bed nights was 0.3 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.2 % and foreign bed nights 1.1 %.

Length of stay increased 52 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 52 percent compared to earlier year. In Piteå, length of stay in March was on average 3.9 nights and in Sweden 3.2 nights (+21.8 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Piteå on average 4.4 nights (+105.1 %) and foreigners 3.0 nights (+44.2 %).

2,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 35 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 65.2 percent were domestic, and 34.8 percent were from foreign countries.
