Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 55 percent

In July 2021, 117,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Piteå (+55.4 %), of which 105,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 12,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 71 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 12 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 55 percent from last year's July.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (5,300 nights).

13,300 rooms (+43.3 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 3,700 rooms (-40.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and July, 192,000 registered bed nights (+29.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 31,900 (-5.2 %) for foreigners in Piteå, in total 224,000 (+23.1 %) registered nights.

Total of 12.2 million registered bed nights (+30.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 10.7 million nights (+21.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.5 million nights (+174.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Piteå out of total registered bed nights was 1.0 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.0 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.

Length of stay increased 19 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 19 percent compared to earlier year. In Piteå, length of stay in July was on average 3.5 nights and in Sweden 2.4 nights (-0.9 %).

During July, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Piteå on average 3.5 nights (+23.3 %) and foreigners 3.8 nights (-15.7 %).

33,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 30 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 90.2 percent were domestic, and 9.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During July, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Piteå on average 3.5 nights (+0.72) and foreigners 3.8 nights (-0.34).
