Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased nine percent

In August 2021, 78,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Piteå (+8.9 %), of which 59,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 18,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased one percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 63 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased nine percent from last year's August.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (8,100 nights).

8,900 rooms (+26.0 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 3,300 rooms (-58.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 251,000 registered bed nights (+20.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 50,600 (+12.1 %) for foreigners in Piteå, in total 302,000 (+19.1 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.9 percent

Total of 8.4 million registered bed nights (+39.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 6.8 million nights (+25.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.6 million nights (+160.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Piteå out of total registered bed nights was 0.9 % (-0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.9 % and foreign bed nights 1.2 %.

Length of stay increased two percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased two percent compared to earlier year. In Piteå, length of stay in August was on average 2.9 nights and in Sweden 2.2 nights (-3.6 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Piteå on average 3.0 nights (+18.0 %) and foreigners 2.7 nights (-15.0 %).

26,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased seven percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 73.9 percent were domestic, and 26.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Piteå on average 3.0 nights (+0.12) and foreigners 2.7 nights (-0.11).
