Registered bed nights increased 13 percent

In October 2021, 19,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Piteå (+13.3 %), of which 14,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 26 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 13 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 13 percent from last year's October.

7,200 rooms (+3.5 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 3,600 rooms (-32.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and October, 282,000 registered bed nights (+22.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 60,900 (+7.0 %) for foreigners in Piteå, in total 343,000 (+19.4 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.9 million registered bed nights (+25.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.2 million nights (+19.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 708,000 nights (+57.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Piteå out of total registered bed nights was 0.5 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.5 % and foreign bed nights 0.7 %.

Length of stay was 2.9 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 10 percent compared to earlier year. In Piteå, length of stay in October was on average 2.9 nights and in Sweden 1.9 nights (-4.6 %).

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Piteå on average 2.5 nights (+16.4 %) and foreigners 5.2 nights (-16.5 %).

6,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 26 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 86.2 percent were domestic, and 13.8 percent were from foreign countries.
