Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 137 percent

In April 2022, 20,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Piteå (+137.5 %), of which 14,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 91 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 410 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 137 percent from last year's April.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Denmark (2,300 nights).

8,300 rooms (+319.2 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 1,700 rooms (-24.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 47,200 registered bed nights (+100.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 18,500 (+131.8 %) for foreigners in Piteå, in total 65,700 (+108.3 %) registered nights.

Total of 4.2 million registered bed nights (+64.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.4 million nights (+46.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 791,000 nights (+260.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Piteå out of total registered bed nights was 0.5 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.4 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased less than one percent compared to earlier year. In Piteå, length of stay in April was on average 3.0 nights and in Sweden 1.9 nights (-23.8 %).

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Piteå on average 2.4 nights (-29.1 %) and foreigners 6.2 nights (+32.3 %).
