Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased four percent

In March 2018, 84,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Pohjois-Lappi (+4.4 %), of which 33,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 51,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased two percent and registered foreign bed nights increased nine percent. In total, registered bed nights increased four percent from last year's March.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from France (8,600 nights).

64,500 nights (+2.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 20,300 nights (+12.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 61,300 registered bed nights (+2.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 180,000 (+11.6 %) for foreigners in Pohjois-Lappi, in total 241,000 (+9.0 %) registered nights.

Market share 4.5 percent

Total of 1.9 million registered bed nights (+5.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (+4.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 574,000 nights (+7.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Pohjois-Lappi out of total registered bed nights was 4.5 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.5 % and foreign bed nights 9.0 %.

Length of stay was 2.7 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased one percent compared to earlier year. In Pohjois-Lappi, length of stay in March was on average 2.7 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-0.6 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pohjois-Lappi on average 3.0 nights (+6.1 %) and foreigners 2.6 nights (+0.1 %).

31,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 35.3 percent were domestic, and 64.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pohjois-Lappi on average 3.0 nights (0.0) and foreigners 2.6 nights (-0.02).

Registered accommodation sales in March were 7.1 million euro (+2.5 million).

Registered January-March sales were 20.5 million euro and they increased 7.7 million euro from the previous year.
