Porvoo: Tourism in a nutshell
6,500 registered bed nights
In September 2020, 6,500 bed nights were recorded in Porvoo (-52.2 %), of which 5,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 660 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 37 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 85 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 52 percent from last year's September.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Netherlands (185 nights).
1,800 nights (-55.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 4,600 nights (-50.7 %) by business visitors.
Between January and September, 61,100 bed nights (-22.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 12,500 (-61.1 %) for foreigners in Porvoo, in total 73,600 (-33.6 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 39 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 96.9 percent were domestic, and 3.1 percent were from foreign countries.
During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Porvoo on average 1.3 nights (-0.24) and foreigners 4.6 nights (+1.7).

Foreign visitors and their consumption
The number of foreign visitors in September was 310 (-90.4 %). Out of them 102 were on a daytrip and 210 stayed at least for one night.
The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and September was 7,600 (-73.4 %).
Total consumption of these visitors in Porvoo in September was 65,400 euro (211 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 58,800 euro and day visitors 6,600 euro. Between January and September the consumption was 1.7 million euro.

Total accommodation sales in September were 617,000 euro (-485,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 18.1 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 505,000 euro (-436,000) and non-registered sales 112,000 euro (-49,200).
Total January-September sales were 6.1 million euro and they decreased 1.8 million euro from the previous year.
