Bed nights in paid accommodation

Bed nights in registered accommodation increased one percent

In August 2023, 357,000 bed nights were registered in Agder (+1.3 %), of which 251,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 105,000 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased two percent and foreign bed nights increased 11 percent. In total, bed nights in registered accommodation increased one percent from last year's August.

110,000 nights (+6.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 31,700 nights (+13.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 1.5 million registered bed nights (-2.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 389,000 (+24.0 %) for foreigners in Agder, in total 1.8 million (+2.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 7.0 percent

Total of 5.1 million bed nights in registered accommodation (-1.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.0 million nights (-7.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.1 million nights (+8.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Agder out of total registered bed nights in Norway was 7.0 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 8.4 % and foreign bed nights 5.0 %.

Length of stay was 2.2 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased three percent compared to earlier year. In Agder, length of stay in August was on average 2.2 nights (-3.3 %) and in Norway 1.9 nights (-4.4 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Agder on average 2.3 nights (+2.8 %) and foreigners 1.9 nights (-15.0 %).

162,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 66.0 percent were domestic, and 34.0 percent were from foreign countries.
