Bed nights in paid accommodation

6,200 bed nights in registered accommodation

In August 2023, 6,200 bed nights were registered in Ähtäri (-9.4 %), of which 5,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 360 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 13 percent and foreign bed nights increased 185 percent. In total, bed nights in registered accommodation decreased nine percent from last year's August.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Estonia (128 nights).

5,400 nights (-18.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 840 nights (+205.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 42,700 registered bed nights (+3.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1,500 (+14.4 %) for foreigners in Ähtäri, in total 44,200 (+3.5 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.3 percent

Total of 2.3 million bed nights in registered accommodation (-0.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.7 million nights (-3.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 606,000 nights (+7.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Ähtäri out of total registered bed nights in Finland was 0.3 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.3 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.

Length of stay increased nine percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased nine percent compared to earlier year. In Ähtäri, length of stay in August was on average 1.5 nights (+8.9 %) and in Finland 1.8 nights (+0.0 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Ähtäri on average 1.4 nights (+4.8 %) and foreigners 4.6 nights (+184.8 %).

4,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 17 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 98.1 percent were domestic, and 1.9 percent were from foreign countries.
