Bed nights in paid accommodation

Bed nights in registered accommodation increased 16 percent

In August 2023, 18,800 bed nights were registered in Boden (+16.0 %), of which 12,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,700 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 58 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 22 percent. In total, bed nights in registered accommodation increased 16 percent from last year's August.

2,500 rooms (+73.2 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 1,600 rooms (-19.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 78,600 registered bed nights (+30.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 64,700 (-12.7 %) for foreigners in Boden, in total 143,000 (+6.6 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.2 percent

Total of 8.4 million bed nights in registered accommodation (-5.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.9 million nights (-9.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.5 million nights (+6.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Boden out of total registered bed nights in Sweden was 0.2 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

Length of stay was 2.5 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 62 percent compared to earlier year. In Boden, length of stay in August was on average 2.5 nights (-62.0 %) and in Sweden 2.1 nights (-0.3 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Boden on average 2.2 nights (-48.3 %) and foreigners 3.4 nights (-74.2 %).

7,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 200 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 73.4 percent were domestic, and 26.6 percent were from foreign countries.
