Bed nights in paid accommodation

16,000 bed nights in registered accommodation

In August 2023, 16,000 bed nights were registered in Central Ostrobothnia (-0.1 %), of which 13,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,100 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased three percent and foreign bed nights increased 29 percent. In total, bed nights in registered accommodation decreased less than one percent from last year's August.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (360 nights).

10,300 nights (-3.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 5,700 nights (+7.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 89,800 registered bed nights (-3.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 10,500 (+23.1 %) for foreigners in Central Ostrobothnia, in total 100,000 (-1.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.7 percent

Total of 2.3 million bed nights in registered accommodation (-0.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.7 million nights (-3.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 606,000 nights (+7.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Central Ostrobothnia out of total registered bed nights in Finland was 0.7 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.8 % and foreign bed nights 0.4 %.

Length of stay increased six percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased six percent compared to earlier year. In Central Ostrobothnia, length of stay in August was on average 1.7 nights (+5.7 %) and in Finland nights .

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Central Ostrobothnia on average 1.6 nights (+1.7 %) and foreigners 3.5 nights (+43.6 %).

9,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 93.3 percent were domestic, and 6.7 percent were from foreign countries.
