Registered bed nights increased 69 percent

In January 2023, 35,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Espoo (+69.3 %), of which 20,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 14,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 30 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 200 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 69 percent from last year's January.

12,300 nights (+172.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 23,100 nights (+41.0 %) by business visitors.

Market share 2.3 percent

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (+48.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 994,000 nights (+43.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 536,000 nights (+56.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Espoo out of total registered bed nights was 2.3 % (+0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.1 % and foreign bed nights 2.7 %.

13,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 163 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 71.5 percent were domestic, and 28.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Espoo on average 2.1 nights (-1.4) and foreigners 3.7 nights (-3.1).

766,000 air travelers (Helsinki)

The airport received a total of 766,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 78 percent. 206,000 travelers were transferring planes (+68.9 %) and 560,000 were local passengers (+81.0 %).

Of local passengers, 81.8 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 18.2 %. For transferring passengers, the share of travelers arriving from abroad was 76.2 %.

In addition, there were 347,000 passengers departing the airport (+98.7 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 1.1 million (+83.7 %).
