Bed nights in paid accommodation

Bed nights in registered accommodation increased six percent

In August 2023, 40,900 bed nights were registered in Falun (+6.0 %), of which 33,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 7,000 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased one percent and foreign bed nights increased 59 percent. In total, bed nights in registered accommodation increased six percent from last year's August.

8,600 rooms (+5.5 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 5,100 rooms (-5.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 235,000 registered bed nights (-0.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 34,100 (+30.4 %) for foreigners in Falun, in total 269,000 (+2.9 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.5 percent

Total of 8.4 million bed nights in registered accommodation (-5.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.9 million nights (-9.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.5 million nights (+6.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Falun out of total registered bed nights in Sweden was 0.5 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.6 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

Length of stay was 2.0 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased six percent compared to earlier year. In Falun, length of stay in August was on average 2.0 nights (-6.2 %) and in Sweden 2.1 nights (-0.3 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Falun on average 2.0 nights (-7.7 %) and foreigners 2.1 nights (+2.4 %).

20,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 13 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 83.7 percent were domestic, and 16.3 percent were from foreign countries.
