Registered bed nights increased 48 percent

In January 2023, 1.5 million registered bed nights were recorded in Finland (+48.1 %), of which 994,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 536,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 44 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 57 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 48 percent from last year's January.

981,000 nights (+37.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 549,000 nights (+72.6 %) by business visitors.

766,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 80 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 73.6 percent were domestic, and 26.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Finland on average 1.8 nights (-0.41) and foreigners 2.7 nights (-0.54).

719,000 air travelers

The airport received a total of 719,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 77 percent.

Of local passengers, 73.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 26.8 %.

In addition, there were 521,000 passengers departing the airport (+83.3 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 1.2 million (+79.7 %).

372,000 passengers by ferries

There were 372,000 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port increased 100 percent. The number of departing passengers was 349,000 (+113.0 %). Most arrivals were from Estonia (215,000 arrivals).

Accommodation sales 125.8 million euro

Total accommodation sales in January were 125.8 million euro (+49.8 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 15.0 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 107.0 million euro (+45.3 million) and non-registered sales 18.8 million euro (+4.5 million).
