Bed nights in paid accommodation

42,600 bed nights in registered accommodation

In August 2023, 42,600 bed nights were registered in Gävle (-19.2 %), of which 37,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,300 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 19 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 21 percent. In total, bed nights in registered accommodation decreased 19 percent from last year's August.

10,600 rooms (+5.5 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 10,900 rooms (-8.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 258,000 registered bed nights (-7.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 30,200 (-10.2 %) for foreigners in Gävle, in total 288,000 (-7.8 %) registered nights.

Total of 8.4 million bed nights in registered accommodation (-5.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.9 million nights (-9.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.5 million nights (+6.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Gävle out of total registered bed nights in Sweden was 0.5 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.6 % and foreign bed nights 0.2 %.

Length of stay was 1.5 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 28 percent compared to earlier year. In Gävle, length of stay in August was on average 1.5 nights (-27.6 %) and in Sweden 2.1 nights (-0.3 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gävle on average 1.5 nights (-27.0 %) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-31.7 %).

28,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 12 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 89.7 percent were domestic, and 10.3 percent were from foreign countries.
