Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 110 percent

In January 2023, 280,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Gothenburg (+110.0 %), of which 218,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 61,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 101 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 152 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 110 percent from last year's January.

88,000 rooms (+87.2 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 90,300 rooms (+164.8 %) by business visitors.

Total of 3.2 million registered bed nights (+36.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.5 million nights (+31.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 640,000 nights (+60.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Gothenburg out of total registered bed nights was 8.8 % (+3.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 8.6 % and foreign bed nights 9.6 %.

170,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 102 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 81.3 percent were domestic, and 18.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gothenburg on average 1.6 nights (+0.02) and foreigners 1.9 nights (+0.24).

170,000 air travelers

The airport received a total of 170,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 75 percent.

Of local passengers, 86.3 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 13.7 %.

In addition, there were 155,000 passengers departing the airport (+101.8 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 325,000 (+87.0 %).
