Bed nights in paid accommodation

113,000 bed nights in registered accommodation

In August 2023, 113,000 bed nights were registered in Halmstad (-11.8 %), of which 98,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 14,600 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 13 percent and foreign bed nights decreased six percent. In total, bed nights in registered accommodation decreased 12 percent from last year's August.

16,900 rooms (+11.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 15,400 rooms (-10.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 556,000 registered bed nights (-9.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 66,400 (+8.6 %) for foreigners in Halmstad, in total 623,000 (-7.7 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.4 percent

Total of 8.4 million bed nights in registered accommodation (-5.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.9 million nights (-9.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.5 million nights (+6.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Halmstad out of total registered bed nights in Sweden was 1.4 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.7 % and foreign bed nights 0.6 %.

Length of stay increased five percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased five percent compared to earlier year. In Halmstad, length of stay in August was on average 2.2 nights (+5.0 %) and in Sweden 2.1 nights (-0.3 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Halmstad on average 2.2 nights (+5.2 %) and foreigners 1.9 nights (+4.6 %).

52,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 16 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 85.2 percent were domestic, and 14.8 percent were from foreign countries.
