Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 109 percent

In January 2023, 367,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Helsinki Metropolitan Area (+109.3 %), of which 226,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 141,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 105 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 117 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 109 percent from last year's January.

177,000 nights (+115.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 191,000 nights (+103.8 %) by business visitors.

Market share 24.0 percent

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (+48.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 994,000 nights (+43.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 536,000 nights (+56.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Helsinki Metropolitan Area out of total registered bed nights was 24.0 % (+7.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 22.7 % and foreign bed nights 26.4 %.

227,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 151 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 66.0 percent were domestic, and 34.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Helsinki Metropolitan Area on average 1.5 nights (-0.4) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-0.16).
