Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased three percent (December 2023)

In December 2023, 30,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Inari Excl. Saariselkä (+3.2 %), of which 1,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 28,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 20 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased two percent. In total, registered bed nights increased three percent from last year's December.

23,400 nights (+5.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 6,900 nights (-4.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 60,000 registered bed nights (+0.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 157,000 (+10.1 %) for foreigners in Inari Excl. Saariselkä, in total 217,000 (+7.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.7 percent (December 2023)

Total of 1.8 million registered bed nights (+0.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.0 million nights (-3.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 780,000 nights (+6.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Inari Excl. Saariselkä out of total registered bed nights was 1.7 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.2 % and foreign bed nights 3.6 %.

Market share in Lapland 5.3 percent (December 2023)

Total of 570,000 registered bed nights (+2.3 %) were recorded in Lapland, of which 93,400 nights (-15.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 476,000 nights (+6.8 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Inari Excl. Saariselkä out of total registered bed nights in Lapland was 5.3 %, out of domestic bed nights 2.0 % and foreign bed nights 6.0 %.

12,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (December 2023)

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 13 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 7.9 percent were domestic, and 92.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Inari Excl. Saariselkä on average 1.9 nights (+0.01) and foreigners 2.6 nights (-0.26).

The airport received a total of 16,600 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased one percent.

Of local passengers, 26.2 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 73.8 %.
