Bed nights in paid accommodation

10,600 bed nights in registered accommodation

In August 2023, 10,600 bed nights were registered in Kalix (-19.1 %), of which 7,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,300 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 28 percent and foreign bed nights increased 12 percent. In total, bed nights in registered accommodation decreased 19 percent from last year's August.

870 rooms (+24.5 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 1,900 rooms (-8.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 33,100 registered bed nights (-31.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 20,100 (+66.0 %) for foreigners in Kalix, in total 53,200 (-12.0 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.1 percent

Total of 8.4 million bed nights in registered accommodation (-5.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.9 million nights (-9.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.5 million nights (+6.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kalix out of total registered bed nights in Sweden was 0.1 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.

Length of stay was 2.6 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 28 percent compared to earlier year. In Kalix, length of stay in August was on average 2.6 nights (-27.9 %) and in Sweden 2.1 nights (-0.3 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalix on average 2.7 nights (-31.4 %) and foreigners 2.4 nights (-13.6 %).

4,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 12 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 65.5 percent were domestic, and 34.5 percent were from foreign countries.
