Bed nights in paid accommodation

64,500 bed nights in registered accommodation

In August 2023, 64,500 bed nights were registered in Kalmar (-12.5 %), of which 46,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 18,200 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 20 percent and foreign bed nights increased 17 percent. In total, bed nights in registered accommodation decreased 13 percent from last year's August.

15,300 rooms (-12.8 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 8,500 rooms (+38.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 264,000 registered bed nights (-11.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 66,600 (+20.8 %) for foreigners in Kalmar, in total 331,000 (-6.8 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.8 percent

Total of 8.4 million bed nights in registered accommodation (-5.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.9 million nights (-9.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.5 million nights (+6.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kalmar out of total registered bed nights in Sweden was 0.8 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.8 % and foreign bed nights 0.7 %.

Length of stay was 2.0 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. In Kalmar, length of stay in August was on average 2.0 nights (-5.2 %) and in Sweden 2.1 nights (-0.3 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar on average 1.9 nights (-7.7 %) and foreigners 2.2 nights (+0.4 %).

32,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased eight percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 74.6 percent were domestic, and 25.4 percent were from foreign countries.
