Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 39 percent

In January 2023, 35,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Karlstad (+39.1 %), of which 31,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 34 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 87 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 39 percent from last year's January.

8,000 rooms (+63.5 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 13,800 rooms (+71.3 %) by business visitors.

Market share 1.1 percent

Total of 3.2 million registered bed nights (+36.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.5 million nights (+31.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 640,000 nights (+60.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Karlstad out of total registered bed nights was 1.1 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.7 %.

23,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 50 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 89.4 percent were domestic, and 10.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Karlstad on average 1.5 nights (-0.13) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-0.01).
