Bed nights in paid accommodation

83,600 bed nights in registered accommodation

In August 2023, 83,600 bed nights were registered in Karlstad (-6.9 %), of which 59,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 24,500 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased nine percent and foreign bed nights decreased one percent. In total, bed nights in registered accommodation decreased seven percent from last year's August.

19,000 rooms (+21.0 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 13,500 rooms (-16.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 375,000 registered bed nights (-2.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 121,000 (+6.0 %) for foreigners in Karlstad, in total 496,000 (-0.7 %) registered nights.

Total of 8.4 million bed nights in registered accommodation (-5.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.9 million nights (-9.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.5 million nights (+6.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Karlstad out of total registered bed nights in Sweden was 1.0 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.0 % and foreign bed nights 1.0 %.

Length of stay was 1.8 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 36 percent compared to earlier year. In Karlstad, length of stay in August was on average 1.8 nights (-35.5 %) and in Sweden 2.1 nights (-0.3 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Karlstad on average 1.8 nights (-32.6 %) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-42.8 %).

46,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 44 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 70.1 percent were domestic, and 29.9 percent were from foreign countries.
