Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased two percent

In March 2023, 36,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Kristiansand Region (+2.2 %), of which 29,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased six percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 71 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased two percent from last year's March.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (1,400 nights).

17,300 nights (+16.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 14,500 nights (+9.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 74,100 registered bed nights (+10.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 18,100 (+120.4 %) for foreigners in Kristiansand Region, in total 92,200 (+22.9 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.5 percent

Total of 2.4 million registered bed nights (+2.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.8 million nights (+0.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 554,000 nights (+9.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kristiansand Region out of total registered bed nights was 1.5 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.6 % and foreign bed nights 1.2 %.

Length of stay was 1.6 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased six percent compared to earlier year. In Kristiansand Region, length of stay in March was on average 1.6 nights and in Norway 2.0 nights (-6.1 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kristiansand Region on average 1.6 nights (-11.0 %) and foreigners 1.8 nights (+5.9 %).

22,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased nine percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 84.0 percent were domestic, and 16.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kristiansand Region on average 1.6 nights (-0.16) and foreigners 1.8 nights (+0.2).
