Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 75 percent

In January 2023, 117,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Malmö (+75.1 %), of which 84,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 32,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 66 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 103 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 75 percent from last year's January.

38,200 rooms (+68.2 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 39,900 rooms (+106.5 %) by business visitors.

Market share 3.7 percent

Total of 3.2 million registered bed nights (+36.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.5 million nights (+31.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 640,000 nights (+60.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Malmö out of total registered bed nights was 3.7 % (+0.8 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.3 % and foreign bed nights 5.1 %.

60,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 65 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 73.5 percent were domestic, and 26.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Malmö on average 1.9 nights (+0.09) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.18).

46,300 air travelers

The airport received a total of 46,300 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 49 percent.

Of local passengers, 56.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 43.9 %.

In addition, there were 41,700 passengers departing the airport (+74.3 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 88,000 (+59.9 %).
