Bed nights in paid accommodation

40,100 bed nights in registered accommodation

In August 2023, 40,100 bed nights were registered in Örnsköldsvik (-10.1 %), of which 33,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,900 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 12 percent and foreign bed nights increased two percent. In total, bed nights in registered accommodation decreased 10 percent from last year's August.

6,800 rooms (-7.3 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 9,800 rooms (+27.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 197,000 registered bed nights (-2.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 34,800 (-3.8 %) for foreigners in Örnsköldsvik, in total 232,000 (-2.6 %) registered nights.

Total of 8.4 million bed nights in registered accommodation (-5.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.9 million nights (-9.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.5 million nights (+6.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Örnsköldsvik out of total registered bed nights in Sweden was 0.5 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.6 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

Length of stay increased 13 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 13 percent compared to earlier year. In Örnsköldsvik, length of stay in August was on average 2.0 nights (+12.9 %) and in Sweden 2.1 nights (-0.3 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Örnsköldsvik on average 2.0 nights (+13.6 %) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+8.9 %).

19,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 20 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 82.8 percent were domestic, and 17.2 percent were from foreign countries.
