Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased seven percent

In March 2023, 18,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Øst-Telemark (+6.9 %), of which 9,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 8,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 12 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 37 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased seven percent from last year's March.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Denmark (5,300 nights).

10,100 nights (+62.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 1,500 nights (-68.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 24,900 registered bed nights (-2.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 21,700 (+37.0 %) for foreigners in Øst-Telemark, in total 46,600 (+12.8 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.8 percent

Total of 2.4 million registered bed nights (+2.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.8 million nights (+0.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 554,000 nights (+9.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Øst-Telemark out of total registered bed nights was 0.8 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.5 % and foreign bed nights 1.6 %.

Length of stay increased 13 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 13 percent compared to earlier year. In Øst-Telemark, length of stay in March was on average 3.4 nights and in Norway 2.0 nights (-6.1 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Øst-Telemark on average 2.3 nights (-14.6 %) and foreigners 7.4 nights (-11.4 %).

5,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 77.5 percent were domestic, and 22.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Øst-Telemark on average 2.3 nights (-0.15) and foreigners 7.4 nights (+2.1).

Registered January-March sales were 21.4 million crowns and they increased 6.5 million crowns from the previous year.
