Bed nights in paid accommodation

272,000 bed nights in registered accommodation

In August 2023, 272,000 bed nights were registered in Östergötland County (-4.4 %), of which 224,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 48,600 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased five percent and foreign bed nights decreased two percent. In total, bed nights in registered accommodation decreased four percent from last year's August.

63,900 rooms (-0.1 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 39,800 rooms (-2.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 1.3 million registered bed nights (+0.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 226,000 (+9.4 %) for foreigners in Östergötland County, in total 1.5 million (+1.8 %) registered nights.

Total of 8.4 million bed nights in registered accommodation (-5.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.9 million nights (-9.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.5 million nights (+6.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Östergötland County out of total registered bed nights in Sweden was 3.3 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.8 % and foreign bed nights 2.0 %.

Length of stay was 1.7 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased one percent compared to earlier year. In Östergötland County, length of stay in August was on average 1.7 nights (-0.7 %) and in Sweden 2.1 nights (-0.3 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Östergötland County on average 1.7 nights (-0.4 %) and foreigners 2.1 nights (-3.4 %).

158,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased four percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 85.1 percent were domestic, and 14.9 percent were from foreign countries.
