Bed nights in paid accommodation

Bed nights in registered accommodation increased two percent

In August 2023, 22,900 bed nights were registered in Risør And Tvedestrand (+2.1 %), of which 18,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,200 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased six percent and foreign bed nights decreased 11 percent. In total, bed nights in registered accommodation increased two percent from last year's August.

4,400 nights (+36.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 480 nights (-27.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 100,000 registered bed nights (+15.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 18,100 (+17.8 %) for foreigners in Risør And Tvedestrand, in total 118,000 (+15.8 %) registered nights.

Total of 5.1 million bed nights in registered accommodation (-1.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.0 million nights (-7.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.1 million nights (+8.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Risør And Tvedestrand out of total registered bed nights in Norway was 0.5 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.6 % and foreign bed nights 0.2 %.

Length of stay was 2.5 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 28 percent compared to earlier year. In Risør And Tvedestrand, length of stay in August was on average 2.5 nights (-28.3 %) and in Norway 1.9 nights (-4.4 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Risør And Tvedestrand on average 2.4 nights (-32.1 %) and foreigners 2.9 nights (-9.8 %).

9,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 42 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 84.0 percent were domestic, and 16.0 percent were from foreign countries.
