Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 25 percent

In January 2023, 64,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Saimaa Region (+24.9 %), of which 61,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 24 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 47 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 25 percent from last year's January.

42,700 nights (+20.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 21,500 nights (+35.8 %) by business visitors.

Market share 4.2 percent

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (+48.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 994,000 nights (+43.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 536,000 nights (+56.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Saimaa Region out of total registered bed nights was 4.2 % (-0.8 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 6.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.6 %.

34,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 35 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.0 percent were domestic, and 4.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Saimaa Region on average 1.8 nights (-0.15) and foreigners 2.3 nights (-0.33).

Ferry arrivals from different harbors

33,600 Russian travelers via eastern border

A total of 33,600 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
