Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 17 percent

In January 2023, 8,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Savonlinna (+16.6 %), of which 7,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 590 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 19 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased eight percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 17 percent from last year's January.

6,500 nights (+18.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 1,800 nights (+10.1 %) by business visitors.

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (+48.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 994,000 nights (+43.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 536,000 nights (+56.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Savonlinna out of total registered bed nights was 0.5 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.8 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.

4,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 12 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 97.2 percent were domestic, and 2.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Savonlinna on average 1.9 nights (+0.11) and foreigners 5.0 nights (-1.3).
