Registered bed nights increased 95 percent

In January 2023, 104,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Tromsø (+95.1 %), of which 47,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 57,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 58 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 141 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 95 percent from last year's January.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (9,300 nights).

66,200 nights (+85.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 21,600 nights (+44.8 %) by business visitors.

Market share 5.9 percent

Total of 1.8 million registered bed nights (+49.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (+51.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 422,000 nights (+44.8 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Tromsø out of total registered bed nights was 5.9 % (+1.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.5 % and foreign bed nights 13.6 %.

40,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 52 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 49.9 percent were domestic, and 50.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tromsø on average 2.3 nights (+0.42) and foreigners 2.8 nights (+0.68).

102,000 air travelers

The airport received a total of 102,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 44 percent.

Of local passengers, 13.4 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 86.6 %.

In addition, there were 102,000 passengers departing the airport (+48.1 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 204,000 (+46.1 %).
