Riihimäki Region: Tourism in a nutshell
4,800 registered bed nights
In August 2019, 4,800 bed nights were recorded in Riihimäki Region (-9.3 %), of which 4,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 460 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased two percent and foreign bed nights decreased 55 percent. In total, bed nights decreased nine percent from last year's August.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Estonia (90 nights).
2,600 nights (-7.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,100 nights (-11.7 %) by business visitors.
Between January and August, 27,700 bed nights (+2.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 5,100 (-9.0 %) for foreigners in Riihimäki Region, in total 32,800 (+0.4 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased nine percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 92.5 percent were domestic, and 7.5 percent were from foreign countries.
During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Riihimäki Region on average 1.8 nights (-0.04) and foreigners 2.4 nights (+0.47).
