Registered bed nights increased 250 percent (May)

In May 2021, 12,700 registered bed nights were recorded in Rovaniemi (+252.8 %), of which 11,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 220 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 2,300 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 250 percent from last year's May.

7,300 nights (+355.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 5,400 nights (+170.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 69,800 registered bed nights (+39.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 9,200 (-95.0 %) for foreigners in Rovaniemi, in total 79,000 (-66.0 %) registered nights.

Total of 850,000 registered bed nights (+183.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 779,000 nights (+177.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 71,600 nights (+266.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Rovaniemi out of total registered bed nights was 1.5 % (+0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.5 % and foreign bed nights 1.6 %.

7,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (May)

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 350 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 86.7 percent were domestic, and 13.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Rovaniemi on average 1.8 nights (-0.39) and foreigners 1.1 nights (-0.7).

3,500 air travelers

The airport received a total of 3,500 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 25 percent.

Of local passengers, 0.3 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 99.7 %.

In addition, there were 3,400 passengers departing the airport (+25.9 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 6,900 (+25.2 %).
