Total of 175,000 bed nights (+17.5 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Rovaniemi in December 2018. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 72 % and non-registered 28 %.

Registered bed nights increased 10 percent
In December 2018, 126,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Rovaniemi (+10.3 %), of which 14,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 111,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 12 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 10 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 10 percent from last year's December.
106,000 nights (+4.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 19,500 nights (+58.3 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 220,000 registered bed nights (+1.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 444,000 (+6.9 %) for foreigners in Rovaniemi, in total 664,000 (+5.2 %) registered nights.

Length of stay increased four percent in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased four percent compared to earlier year. In Rovaniemi, length of stay in December was on average 2.2 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+1.4 %).
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Rovaniemi on average 1.9 nights (-0.2 %) and foreigners 2.2 nights (+2.0 %).

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased six percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 13.4 percent were domestic, and 86.6 percent were from foreign countries.

Accommodation sales 14.8 million euro
Total accommodation sales in December were 14.8 million euro (+2.2 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 18.0 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 12.1 million euro (+1.4 million) and non-registered sales 2.7 million euro (+751,000).
Total January-December sales were 56.6 million euro and they increased 10.1 million euro from the previous year.
