Registered bed nights increased two percent (February)
In February 2020, 49,100 bed nights were recorded in Saariselkä (+2.2 %), of which 11,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 38,100 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 15 percent and foreign bed nights decreased one percent. In total, bed nights increased two percent from last year's February.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from France (6,900 nights).
35,300 nights (-11.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 13,700 nights (+68.4 %) by business visitors.
Between January and February, 19,000 bed nights (+12.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 75,000 (+3.9 %) for foreigners in Saariselkä, in total 94,000 (+5.6 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.8 million bed nights (+7.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+10.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 613,000 nights (+1.9 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Saariselkä out of total bed nights was 2.7 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.9 % and foreign bed nights 6.2 %.
18,200 tourists arrived to accommodation (February)
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 10 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 17.7 percent were domestic, and 82.3 percent were from foreign countries.
During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Saariselkä on average 3.4 nights (-0.34) and foreigners 2.5 nights (+0.36).
