Registered bed nights increased 17 percent

In October 2019, 11,900 bed nights were recorded in Saariselkä (+17.2 %), of which 6,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,600 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 16 percent and foreign bed nights increased 18 percent. In total, bed nights increased 17 percent from last year's October.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Japan (1,300 nights).

9,200 nights (+14.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,600 nights (+26.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and October, 145,000 bed nights (-0.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 142,000 (+2.4 %) for foreigners in Saariselkä, in total 287,000 (+0.9 %) nights.

Market share 0.7 percent

Total of 1.7 million bed nights (+7.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+5.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 436,000 nights (+12.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Saariselkä out of total bed nights was 0.7 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.5 % and foreign bed nights 1.3 %.

5,200 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 19 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 44.6 percent were domestic, and 55.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Saariselkä on average 2.7 nights (-0.26) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.1).

Registered accommodation sales in October were 847,000 euro (+245,000).

Registered January-October sales were 20.6 million euro and they increased 85,100 euro from the previous year.
