87,100 registered bed nights (March 2019)

In March 2019, 87,100 bed nights were recorded in Saimaa Region, of which 61,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 25,100 nights by foreigners.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (19,800 nights).

60,800 nights were spend by leisure visitors and 26,300 nights by business visitors.

Between January and March, 176,000 bed nights were recorded for domestic visitors and 77,800 for foreigners in Saimaa Region, in total 254,000 nights.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Saimaa Region on average 1.8 nights (+0.17) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.04).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 24 percent (February)

A total of 255,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Russian visa applications increased 29 percent (February)

There was a total of 51,600 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 83.4 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
