Registered bed nights increased 11 percent (October 2019)
In October 2019, 103,000 bed nights were recorded in Saimaa Region (+11.0 %), of which 80,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 22,700 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 10 percent and foreign bed nights increased 15 percent. In total, bed nights increased 11 percent from last year's October.
73,300 nights (+16.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 30,100 nights (+0.1 %) by business visitors.
Between January and October, 922,000 bed nights (+4.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 340,000 (-0.3 %) for foreigners in Saimaa Region, in total 1.3 million (+3.3 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

57,500 tourists arrived to accommodation (October 2019)
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased nine percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 79.0 percent were domestic, and 21.0 percent were from foreign countries.
During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Saimaa Region on average 1.8 nights (+0.04) and foreigners 1.9 nights (-0.03).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 36 percent
A total of 255,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 91.5 percent.

Russian visa applications increased 29 percent
There was a total of 51,600 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 83.4 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
