Registered bed nights increased 11 percent

In December 2022, 72,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Saimaa Region (+10.7 %), of which 67,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 11 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 10 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 11 percent from last year's December.

49,800 nights (+7.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 22,200 nights (+18.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 1.2 million registered bed nights (+1.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 120,000 (+105.6 %) for foreigners in Saimaa Region, in total 1.3 million (+6.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 4.0 percent

Total of 1.8 million registered bed nights (+11.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (+5.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 731,000 nights (+23.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Saimaa Region out of total registered bed nights was 4.0 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 6.4 % and foreign bed nights 0.6 %.

35,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased one percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.3 percent were domestic, and 4.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Saimaa Region on average 2.0 nights (+0.17) and foreigners 2.5 nights (+0.29).

Ferry arrivals from different harbors

33,300 Russian travelers via eastern border

A total of 33,300 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Accommodation sales 4.7 million euro

Total accommodation sales in December were 4.7 million euro (+258,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 21.5 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 3.7 million euro (+369,000) and non-registered sales 1.0 million euro (-111,000).

Total January-December sales were 84.6 million euro and they increased 7.1 million euro from the previous year.
