Salla: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased 12 percent
In January 2020, 14,000 bed nights were recorded in Salla (+12.0 %), of which 4,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 9,300 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased less than one percent and foreign bed nights increased 19 percent. In total, bed nights increased 12 percent from last year's January.
12,900 nights (+5.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 1,100 nights (+249.5 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 27 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 32.4 percent were domestic, and 67.6 percent were from foreign countries.
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Salla on average 5.9 nights (-1.3) and foreigners 5.7 nights (-0.46).
