Registered bed nights increased 21 percent

In October 2019, 6,500 bed nights were recorded in Salla (+20.5 %), of which 6,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 360 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 21 percent and foreign bed nights increased 19 percent. In total, bed nights increased 21 percent from last year's October.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from China (96 nights).

6,200 nights (+68.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 250 nights (-85.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and October, 84,200 bed nights (+1.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 30,500 (-4.9 %) for foreigners in Salla, in total 115,000 (-0.3 %) nights.

Total of 1.7 million bed nights (+7.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+5.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 436,000 nights (+12.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Salla out of total bed nights was 0.4 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.5 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.

1,100 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 29 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 91.7 percent were domestic, and 8.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Salla on average 6.0 nights (-0.58) and foreigners 3.9 nights (+0.56).
