Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased eight percent

In February 2020, 20,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Salla (+7.9 %), of which 12,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 8,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 10 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased five percent. In total, registered bed nights increased eight percent from last year's February.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Netherlands (4,200 nights).

19,900 nights (+5.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 980 nights (+130.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 17,200 registered bed nights (+7.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 17,700 (+11.9 %) for foreigners in Salla, in total 34,900 (+9.5 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.1 percent

Total of 1.9 million registered bed nights (+7.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+10.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 611,000 nights (+1.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Salla out of total registered bed nights was 1.1 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.0 % and foreign bed nights 1.4 %.

Market share in Lapland 5.0 percent

Total of 415,000 registered bed nights (+6.9 %) were recorded in Lapland, of which 126,000 nights (+21.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 289,000 nights (+1.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Salla out of total registered bed nights in Lapland was 5.0 %, out of domestic bed nights 9.9 % and foreign bed nights 2.9 %.

3,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 24 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 60.8 percent were domestic, and 39.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Salla on average 5.2 nights (-0.9) and foreigners 5.4 nights (-0.66).
