Salo: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased 21 percent
In March 2019, 5,900 bed nights were recorded in Salo (+20.5 %), of which 5,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 480 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 18 percent and foreign bed nights increased 61 percent. In total, bed nights increased 21 percent from last year's March.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (107 nights).
4,000 nights (+16.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 1,900 nights (+30.9 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 12,800 bed nights (+7.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1,000 (-30.1 %) for foreigners in Salo, in total 13,800 (+3.6 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.9 million bed nights (-2.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (-2.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 566,000 nights (-1.4 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Salo out of total bed nights was 0.3 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.4 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.
2,600 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 20 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 85.2 percent were domestic, and 14.8 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Salo on average 2.4 nights (+0.13) and foreigners 1.3 nights (-0.35).

Accommodation sales 398,000 euro
Total accommodation sales in March were 398,000 euro (+74,000). The share of Airbnb and HomeAway was 24.9 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 319,000 euro (+54,700) and Airbnb and HomeAway sales 79,300 euro (+19,400).
Total January-March sales were 920,000 euro and they increased 28,200 euro from the previous year.
