Savonlinna Region: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased eight percent
In November 2019, 18,800 bed nights were recorded in Savonlinna Region (+7.7 %), of which 16,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,800 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 11 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 16 percent. In total, bed nights increased eight percent from last year's November.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (1,500 nights).
12,600 nights (+16.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 6,200 nights (-6.7 %) by business visitors.
Between January and November, 267,000 bed nights (+3.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 81,700 (-0.8 %) for foreigners in Savonlinna Region, in total 349,000 (+2.2 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

12,000 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased nine percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 90.9 percent were domestic, and 9.1 percent were from foreign countries.
During November, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Savonlinna Region on average 1.6 nights (+0.03) and foreigners 1.7 nights (-0.48).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 16 percent
A total of 289,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 91.3 percent.

There was a total of 55,000 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 76.9 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Accommodation sales 1.2 million euro
Registered accommodation sales in November were 1.2 million euro (+423,000).
Registered January-November sales were 19.0 million euro and they increased 5.0 million euro from the previous year.
