Savonlinna Region: Tourism in a nutshell
2,000 registered bed nights
In April 2020, 2,000 bed nights were recorded in Savonlinna Region (-87.2 %), of which 1,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 18 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 86 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 99 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 87 percent from last year's April.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Estonia (7.0 nights).
660 nights (-93.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 1,300 nights (-73.9 %) by business visitors.
Between January and April, 38,300 bed nights (-32.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 11,100 (-18.1 %) for foreigners in Savonlinna Region, in total 49,400 (-29.6 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 88 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 99.2 percent were domestic, and 0.8 percent were from foreign countries.
During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Savonlinna Region on average 2.1 nights (+0.11) and foreigners 2.2 nights (+0.33).

20,100 Russian travelers via eastern border
A total of 20,100 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 63.1 percent.

There was a total of 8,600 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 92.3 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.

Registered accommodation sales in April were 86,100 euro (-894,000).
Registered January-April sales were 2.6 million euro and they decreased 1.0 million euro from the previous year.
