Registered bed nights increased 15 percent (December 2022)

In December 2022, 17,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Savonlinna Region (+15.1 %), of which 16,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 840 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 18 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 25 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 15 percent from last year's December.

12,200 nights (+17.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 5,400 nights (+9.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 304,000 registered bed nights (-8.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 33,800 (+107.3 %) for foreigners in Savonlinna Region, in total 337,000 (-2.5 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.0 percent (December 2022)

Total of 1.8 million registered bed nights (+11.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (+5.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 731,000 nights (+23.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Savonlinna Region out of total registered bed nights was 1.0 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.6 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.

7,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (December 2022)

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 24 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.7 percent were domestic, and 3.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Savonlinna Region on average 2.3 nights (+0.8) and foreigners 3.4 nights (+0.57).

Accommodation sales 1.3 million euro (December 2022)

Total accommodation sales in December were 1.3 million euro (+225,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 18.6 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 1.1 million euro (+249,000) and non-registered sales 251,000 euro (-23,900).

Total January-December sales were 25.0 million euro and they increased 1.7 million euro from the previous year.
