21,100 registered bed nights

In September 2020, 21,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Savonlinna Region (-20.7 %), of which 20,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 550 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased three percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 92 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 21 percent from last year's September.

12,000 nights (-36.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 9,200 nights (+19.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 222,000 registered bed nights (-4.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 17,800 (-77.0 %) for foreigners in Savonlinna Region, in total 240,000 (-22.3 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.7 percent

Total of 1.2 million registered bed nights (-32.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (-12.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 92,200 nights (-82.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Savonlinna Region out of total registered bed nights was 1.7 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.8 % and foreign bed nights 0.6 %.

13,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 13 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 99.1 percent were domestic, and 0.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Savonlinna Region on average 1.6 nights (+0.01) and foreigners 4.5 nights (+1.7).

23,800 Russian travelers via eastern border

A total of 23,800 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

There was a total of 610 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 60.7 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.

Accommodation sales 1.2 million euro

Registered accommodation sales in September were 1.2 million euro (-99,800).

Registered January-September sales were 11.6 million euro and they decreased 5.0 million euro from the previous year.
