12,000 registered bed nights

In January 2021, 12,000 bed nights were recorded in Savonlinna Region (-30.4 %), of which 11,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 149 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased six percent and foreign bed nights decreased 98 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 30 percent from last year's January.

5,800 nights (-43.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 6,100 nights (-11.2 %) by business visitors.

Total of 681,000 bed nights (-59.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 629,000 nights (-34.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 52,000 nights (-92.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Savonlinna Region out of total bed nights was 1.8 % (+0.7 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

6,800 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 29 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 99.3 percent were domestic, and 0.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Savonlinna Region on average 1.7 nights (+0.31) and foreigners 2.9 nights (-0.25).

A total of 23,500 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
