20,300 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 20,300 bed nights (+15.3 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Savonlinna Region in March 2018. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 78 % and non-registered 22 %.
Between January and March, the number of paid bed nights was 64,100 (+12.1 %). Share of registered was 70 % and non-registered 30 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Paid bed nights
15,900 registered bed nights
In March 2018, 15,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Savonlinna Region (-5.1 %), of which 12,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 12 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 34 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased five percent from last year's March.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (1,900 nights).
11,100 nights (+0.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 4,800 nights (-16.2 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 32,800 registered bed nights (-19.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 11,900 (-11.6 %) for foreigners in Savonlinna Region, in total 44,700 (-17.4 %) registered nights.

Length of stay was 1.7 nights in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased three percent compared to earlier year. In Savonlinna Region, length of stay in March was on average 1.7 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-0.6 %).
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Savonlinna Region on average 1.5 nights (-3.2 %) and foreigners 2.8 nights (+1.8 %).
9,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased two percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 87.4 percent were domestic, and 12.6 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Savonlinna Region on average 1.5 nights (-0.13) and foreigners 2.8 nights (+0.26).

Total accommodation sales in March were 769,000 euro (+111,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 17.2 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 637,000 euro (-4,500) and non-registered sales 132,000 euro (+116,000).
Total January-March sales were 2.4 million euro and they increased 267,000 euro from the previous year.
